Mono y Banana se conocieron en Lima en junio del 2008, cuando una serie de sincronías alinearon sus caminos. Banana (Anna Luisa Daigneault) era una pianista y cantante que vivía en Montreal. Mono (Leonardo Camacho) era un músico piurano multi-instrumentista que además le gustaba crear los suyos propios como el Quipu de Luz, la Manta Sónica o el Theremyn de Luz.
Ese mismo año comenzaron a tocar, experimentando con diversos formatos electrónicos, además de realizar algunas grabaciones, las cuales continuaron el 2010 cuando Banana regresó al Perú. De esta forma fueron creando las excursiones musicales que en diciembre de ese año serían publicadas por el sello canadiense Haunted Clockwork Records, bajo el título de "Mamíferos y frutas".
Las ocho pistas que conforman el álbum poseen una atmósfera mística y lisérgica que anula la razón e invita al goce surreal, al despertar sensorial que provocan sus texturas etéreas, la delicada densidad de sus voces, los sonidos lúdicos de sus instrumentos electrónicos, es decir, un disco que suena como un arrullo psicodélico. ¿Te imaginas qué sucedería si Brian Eno se encontrara en un desierto con Bjork un día de eclipse lunar? Tal vez aquí tengas una pista.
Si bien no son novios, para Mono y Banana la música es una forma de amor y un disco es un regalo para el universo. Ellos sienten que pertenecen a una tribu invisible de músicos jóvenes que están interesados en la fusión entre lo real, lo fantástico, lo electrónico y lo humano. Su alianza va más allá del tiempo y el espacio. En su viaje musical han vivido experiencias maravillosas y han conocido gente de espíritu grande, algunos de los cuales colaboraron en su disco como Efraín Rozas, Oliver Lewis y Giovanna Núñez.

Mono y Banana met in Lima in June 2008, when a series of synchronicities aligned their paths. Banana (Anna Luisa Daigneault) was a pianist and singer who lived in Montreal. Mono (Leonardo Camacho) was a multi-instrumentalist from Piura who liked to create his own instruments, such as the Quipu of Light, the Sonic Blanket and the Light Theremin.
That same year, they started playing and experimenting with different formats, and made some recordings, which continued into 2010 when Banana returned to Peru. Many musical excursions were created, and in December 2010 their "Mammals and Fruit" (Mamiferos y Frutas) album was released by the Canadian label Haunted Clockwork Records.
The eight tracks that make up the album have a mystical atmosphere and lysergic quality that overrides reason and induces surreal enjoyment, a sensory awakening that is caused by ethereal textures, the delicate density of their voices, the playful sounds of electronic instruments - it is an album that sounds like a psychedelic lullaby. Can you imagine what would happen if Brian Eno found himself in a desert with Bjork on the night of lunar eclipse? Maybe that would give you a clue.
While there are not a couple, Mono y Banana's music exhibits a kind of universal love and they see their album as a gift to the Universe. They feel that they belong to an invisible tribe of young musicians who are interested in merging the real, the surreal, the electronic and the human. Their alliance goes beyond time and space. In their musical journey, they have had many experiences and have played with wonderful souls, some of whom appear on their record, such as Efraín Rozas, Oliver Lewis and Giovana Núñez.
